My Background:
Accompanying:
I am Cameron Lewis, I took up the position of Accompanist with Côr Meibion Morlais following the resignation of Stuart Street. I was invited to join the choir in March 2024 and now have been with Côr Meibion Morlais for two years. I had the pleasure of accompanying them at numerous concerts and events. I greatly enjoy working with the choir and look forward to many happy years ahead.
My interest in music began at a very early age. I started learning the piano at five years old and gave my first solo performance at the age of nine with Côr Meibion Abercynon, where I have now been involved for five years. Since then, I have had the opportunity to perform with choirs on several occasions, including stepping in as an accompanist when needed. One of my early highlights was being the piano soloist on a tour of Brittany in 2017.
This experience has earned me opportunities to play with other very famous choirs for example: Treorchy Male Voice Choir and accompanying several other choirs in joint concerts.
Vocal Background:
In 2018, I toured with the Welsh National Opera in their production of Tosca, and in 2019 I performed the role of First Boy Soprano in their production of The Magic Flute.
I took part in my first vocal performance with Abercynon during my team as a boy Soprano, as well as developing several skills singing in a choral choir, as well as singing for gigs and other performances.
I have additionally had vocal training from ages 11 - 17 under several teachers that have helped me learn different styles, vocal technique, and greatly helped in building confidence, where I sung in several recitals and gigs.
Vocal Background:
I have also gained experience performing in a variety of live gigs across Cardiff, which has allowed me to develop confidence in different performance settings.
Alongside this, I have taken part in jazz and improvisation classes, where I have explored a range of genres and styles.
These experiences have challenged me to step outside of my comfort zone and broaden my musical versatility.
Alongside accompanying two choirs I am currently finishing my final year in Cardiff and Vale College.
